Horrific find in dog farm in Pasir Ris
3 maggot-infested Shih Tzus feed on carcass of canine

EIGHTY per cent of their fur gone, their skin and private parts crawling with maggots, they whimpered and scavenged on the carcass of their companion.


This was the horrific condition in which three Shih Tzus were found, barely alive, at a canine breeder's farm in Pasir Ris Farmway 2. The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) is investigating.


The breeder, however, said the four dogs, already in bad shape, had been found in a drain by a customer, who had given them to him to be looked after.


The dogs were discovered by volunteers for Metta Cats, a non-profit group that helps to house and feed abandoned cats. Its cattery is next to the breeder's farm. Said one of the volunteers, a student, who asked not to be named: 'We were there on Dec 5. We heard the dogs whimpering, and saw them scavenging on the dead dog.'


The story is described on Metta Cats' website: 'The place was filled with faeces and urine... there was only one pathetic bowl of greenish water, covered with algae.'


The dog breeder, Mr Desmond Ee, 26, who runs a pet shop in Upper Bukit Timah Road, told The Straits Times in Mandarin: 'A customer found the four dogs abandoned in a drain. They were inside a cage, and were already wet and had very little hair. The customer told me to look after them for him... I didn't abuse them.' Mr Ee added that he had entrusted the care of the dogs to a foreign worker as he was too busy.


Mr Bobby Tan Kok Peng, 25, a chef, said he found the dogs in a drain at Lorong Halus. 'I asked Desmond to take care of them for me because I live in a Housing Board flat and have no space.'


Volunteers contacted Mr Ee and rescued the dogs on Dec 5. They took the dogs to veterinarian Frederic Chua, who reported the matter to the AVA.


One of the dogs died after three days despite attempts to save it. The surviving two are recovering at the Metta Cats' cattery.


Mr K. Madhavan, head of AVA's Centre for Animal Welfare and Control, said: 'We will not hesitate to take action against the owner if there was an act of cruelty.'

On 5th of December'04, I was doing some volunteer work and while helping out, we smelt something decomposing. We looked over the fence and found out there were 4 ShiTzus being placed in a closed area, without food and water. 1 of them died, and the other 3 were eating the corpse. We called the owner, brought over the other 3 ShiTzus to our place. The place is overcrowded with dogs and puppies as well. And just as I was leaving the place where I volunteered in, I heard a loud bang and the dogs were shouting.................

The Mr Ee in the above article is nt kind at all. He fed those dogs wif DEAD BODY AS FOOD for the others n GREENISH WATER (wif algae). This is terrible!!!

Though these furry animals r nt humans, they r MAN'S BEST FRIEND!!! Y shd they deserve such ill treatment??? Aft readin all these shameless things tat MAN actually did 2 these poor friends of ours, i felt so sick n disappointed 2 live tog in tis world as a HUMAN wif such bastards... throw our face...

If a man tortures a few pups, all he gets is jail term and fine of a few thousand dollars. But the poor puppies which are tortured beyond life are put to sleep! In the end, govt is the one to really benefit from this.


The jailterm of 12 months would be incomparable to the Shih Tzu's fate. At least in jail he would have a bed to sleep on, 3 square meals, and an urinal bt those poor dogs suffered so much... ITS NT FAIR AT ALL!!!!


N i bet even when they r out of jail, they will nv regret n learn frm it, given the light punishment. If only there is life imprisonment or electrocuted sentence for animal torturing, perhaps we can see lesser of animal torture cases around.

When can dogs be treated with as much respect as human??
When can those inhuman creatures ever learn frm their mistake??
When can they ever put themselves in the poor animals' shoes b4 they do those sickening stuffs??
When can those furry friends b able 2 live in tis world safely n w/o sufferings??
When can ple ever open their eyes big n look into tis matter seriously??
